The development of the Lyons Universal Chuck by William A. Lyons (Shown above) gave birth to Lyons Tool and Engineering, Inc. The outstanding feature of the Lyons Universal Chuck lies in the fact that the Hypoid Ring Gear with the same pitch diameter, but with different ratios, can be arranged upon one fixture, thus eliminating the necessity to purchase separate fixtures for each ratio. Movable spherical locators on this one chuck can be rearranged to suit any ratio. (The chuck can be built in various sizes)
